Matt 30th July 2021

Firstly, you’ve been an incredible father in law to me & always showed me the love, respect, care & support of someone who was your own flesh & blood. You’ve been an inspiration to me in a work sense, always there to help me with working through the endless job contracts, helping navigate tricky redundancies & always happy to lend an ear or a Pearl of wisdom - of which there were many. On the football front, you’ve lovingly teased & joked about how rubbish Aston Villa are, never missing an opportunity to watch thumping defeat after defeat with a hilariously worded email or a funny article poking fun. We’ve watched many a match together, & I’ll always remember just how graceful you were in defeat - enjoying a good match, even if it meant Spurs being on the wrong end of a result. You’ve also been a great friend to me - whether that be on the golf course, or one on one - even going as far as taking me to lunch in Nerja one summer, as I desperately wanted a Restinga Beach Hut steak where we were mistaken as an injured premier league player (I was in my crutches at the time) & you were there as my agent. We laughed about that all afternoon! Gordy - you’ve had an incredible impact on my life & I want you to know & to understand, just how much you mean to me. In many respects, you’ve been a second father to me, & will forever be grateful to you for the many lessons you’ve taught me, your thirst for continual knowledge, your ability to drink a pint quicker than any other human I’ve ever met (!), & your huge, loving heart. You’ve shown me how to be a good person, how to support others, how to conduct myself as the man of the house & most importantly, to show me that no matter what, family ALWAYS come first.
