I could see that he was clearly a very fine workman but also perhaps more importantly a really friendly and amiable sort. Just a really nice bloke. The day before he went into hospital I had an upbeat email from him and I was looking forward to having him here one day to see my new railway. Sadly that can't happen now but I hope you'll take comfort from finding out just how much everyone who passed his way thought of him.
