I had the privilege of witnessing Gordon seeing Katy for the first time on her wedding day to Matt. He came up the stairs giggling and it was the first time I understood what 'bursting with pride' meant. His giddiness was infectious, his cheeks were pink and his eyes were nothing short of gleaming. There was something in the room that came from that moment; he radiated love for his daughter and it stayed with us for that whole day. It was later on at that wedding he stood up to speak about his unconditional love and pride for his Katy who is like him in so many ways gregarious, astute and so very kind. In the same speech Gordon paused and looked at Jackie and gave the most heartfelt words about how she is such an integral piece in their family and how much he loved her. it was wonderful to be invited in to that intimate moment. From the wedding, to cups of tea in passing, to birthday lunches to lockdown quizzes. Every time I had the honour of meeting twinkly, fun, kind Gordon I felt so lucky to see the respect, ease and above all love he openly an unashamedly had for Jackie and Katy. A wonderful family xx
