Andy York RMweb Editor 30th July 2021

I would like to extend my condolences to you all in my capacity of running the online community, RMweb, that Gordon was such a well-respected member of. The site started just over 16 years ago and I recall Gordon joining up in the very earliest days entertaining fellow members and readers with his modelling exploits. This he did throughout the years, never falling out with anyone, respected by many across the world and always ready to offer his experiences (often learned the hard way!) for the benefit of others. As the community grew so did the costs of the servers to run the site and when it was starting to get beyond what I could afford Gordon asked me if he could help out. At the time that was an unprecedented gesture and spurred me on to look at how it could be collectively funded rather than relying on his benevolence; this was done successfully and the community has gone from strength to strength from around 7,000 members at that time to over 40,000 today with around 200,000 visitors to the site every month from all over the globe. We all owe him a debt of gratitude. I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon a few times and in the real world he was every inch the kind and gentle person his online personality showed. The last few days has shown how many people he, quietly and supportively, helped and he will be very much missed by many friends he has made within the community.
